How we score
Privacy

We would rather not know who you are.

Velven has no accounts and no logins, and you never need to tell us anything to read a review. This page sets out the small amount we do handle, why, and what happens to it when you click through to a casino.

The short version

Read this if you read nothing else.

Reading costs you nothing

No account, no sign-in, no form. You can read every review, index and guide without giving us any personal information.

A casino link is where it changes

When you click through to a casino, that casino learns you came from us. From that point its own privacy policy applies, not ours.

The newsletter is the only thing we keep

If you subscribe, we hold your email address to send it, and nothing else. One link removes you, and it removes the address.

Your data, by what you do

Pick what you are doing. See exactly what we get.

What we receive

  • Nothing you type — there is nowhere to type it

What is kept, and for how long

  • Standard server logs kept by our host: IP address, browser, pages requested and time
  • Kept for 30 days for security and error diagnosis, then deleted

Who else sees it

  • Our hosting provider, which processes the logs on our behalf

We never sell data, and we do not build profiles. There is no scenario on this site in which we learn your name unless you tell us.

Every clause starts with what it means. Fold the document down to just those lines.

01Who we are

In shortVelven is run by David Tomović (an individual), who operates Velven, which decides how the little data we handle is used.

This site is operated by David Tomović (an individual), who operates Velven, Serbia (“Velven”, “we”, “us”). For the purposes of data protection law we are the controller of the personal data described here. You can reach us about anything on this page at [email protected].

02What we collect

In shortServer logs everyone produces, your email if you subscribe or write, and a referral reference when you click to a casino.

We collect only what the site needs to work and what you choose to give us:

  • Server logs. Like every website, our host records the IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time of each request.
  • Newsletter. Your email address, if you subscribe.
  • Correspondence. Your email address and the contents of anything you send us, including a figure you believe we got wrong.
  • Referrals. When you follow a link to a casino, a reference identifying Velven as the source is attached to that link.

We do not operate accounts, take payments, accept bets or ask for identity documents. We do not collect special category data.

03Why, and on what basis

In shortSecurity logs under our legitimate interest; the newsletter only with your consent; correspondence to answer you.

  • Server logs — to keep the site secure and working. Basis: our legitimate interest in running a secure service.
  • Newsletter — to send it. Basis: your consent, which you can withdraw with the link in every issue.
  • Correspondence — to reply and, where you report an error, to investigate and publish a correction. Basis: our legitimate interest in accurate reviews.
  • Referrals — so the casino can credit Velven for the visit. Basis: our legitimate interest in funding the publication.

04Casino links and commission

In shortClicking to a casino tells it you came from us. What it does next is governed by its own policy.

Some links on Velven are affiliate links. When you follow one, the casino or its affiliate programme can see that the visit came from Velven, and may later report to us whether that visit led to an account or a deposit. Those reports are tied to a referral reference, not to your name, email or contact details, and we do not attempt to identify you from them.

Once you are on a casino’s site, its privacy policy — not this one — governs what it collects, including anything required for its own licence, such as identity checks. We have no access to that data.

Commission never influences a score, a ranking or a verdict. How that is enforced is set out in our independence policy.

05Cookies and storage

In shortThe site itself sets no tracking cookies today. If that changes, you will be asked first.

Velven currently sets no advertising or tracking cookies of its own. Interactive parts of some pages may store a preference in your browser — never anything that identifies you — and it stays on your device.

If we add analytics, we will use a privacy-friendly analytics service configured without cross-site tracking or advertising profiles, and ask for consent where the law requires it before anything is set. The casinos you visit through our links set their own cookies under their own policies.

06Who we share it with

In shortOnly the services that run the site for us, bound to act on our instructions. We never sell data.

We share personal data only with processors that act for us: our hosting provider and, once the newsletter is running, our email provider. Each is bound by contract to use it only to provide its service to us.

We do not sell personal data, rent it, or share it with casinos. If a law or court requires disclosure, we will disclose only what is required.

07Transfers abroad

In shortIf a provider stores data outside your region, it happens under recognised safeguards.

Where a processor stores data outside your country or the European Economic Area, the transfer is covered by an adequacy decision or standard contractual clauses, as applicable. You can ask us for a copy of the relevant safeguards.

08How long we keep it

In shortNo longer than we need it: logs for a short period, your email until you unsubscribe.

  • Server logs — 30 days, then deleted.
  • Newsletter address — until you unsubscribe.
  • Correspondence — while the matter is open and 12 months after, so a published correction can be traced to what prompted it.

09Your rights

In shortYou can ask what we hold, have it corrected or deleted, object, or complain to a regulator.

To use any of them, write to [email protected]. We will answer within one month and will not charge you. We may ask you to confirm the email address the request relates to.

10Age

In shortThis site is for adults. We do not knowingly handle data from anyone under 18.

Velven is intended for people aged 18 or over, or the legal gambling age where they live if that is higher. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone younger. If you believe a minor has subscribed or written to us, tell us and we will delete it.

11Changes to this policy

In shortIf what we do with data changes, this page changes first, dated, with the change stated.

We will update this page before any change in how we handle personal data takes effect, change the date at the top, and — where the change is material — say what changed. Past versions are available on request.

Written for the site as built. This document describes the site as it works today; if that changes — analytics added, a new processor, accounts — this document changes with it, and the date above moves.
