How we score
The method

Every score is arithmetic you can redo.

Velven does not rate casinos on what they advertise, or on how a review feels. We read the independent record — audits, complaint files, player reviews and the casino's own terms — write down each figure with its source and date, and let a published formula turn them into a score.

5 casinos scored 6 weighted components 6 sources cited 90 day re-read cadence
The method

Seven rules, and the operator is in none of them.

We read the independent record

Casino.guru for its audit and complaint file, Trustpilot for what players say, and each casino’s own published terms. For games, the studio’s own pages and SlotCatalog. The operator is not asked for anything and is not told a review is coming.

Every figure is written down with its source and date

A Safety Index, a complaint count, a withdrawal cap, a return configuration — each is stored with the page it came from and the day we read it, and each links back to that page on the review.

The score is computed, never typed

Six components, each on a ten-point scale, weighted and averaged. The formula is below in full. Nobody at Velven can set a number by hand; change a source figure and the score moves by itself.

Six components · weights published below

Player reports are published as theirs

We read what players report about withdrawals, closed accounts and verification, and publish the dated, specific ones with their source — 24 so far. A report is one side of a dispute. It informs the reader; it does not enter the score.

Missing data is left out, and said

If a source does not hold a figure, that component is dropped and the other weights scale up — the review says which one is missing. Vavada currently scores without player sentiment, because the source did not return it.

Everything is re-read on a cadence

Every 90 days, whether or not anyone complains. When a re-read moves a score, the change is published on the corrections page with its date and its reason — including when the score goes down.

Re-read cadence 90 days

What we do not do yet

We do not yet fund accounts and time withdrawals ourselves. When we do, those results will be published as our own measurements and marked that way — never mixed in with what the sources report.

The formula

Six components. Here is exactly what each one weighs.

See it applied
Independent audit Casino.guru's Safety Index for the casino, as published. 25% of the Trust Score
Player sentiment Share of Trustpilot reviews that are not one-star, on a ten-point scale. 20% of the Trust Score
Licence What the licensing regulator can compel: tier-one 9.5, national 7.5, offshore 4.5. 15% of the Trust Score
Withdrawal terms No cap 10; a monthly cap of €30,000 or more 7; lower caps 4; not published 6. Minus 1.5 for withdrawal fees. 15% of the Trust Score
Fair terms Clauses an independent reviewer flags as unfair: none 10, one 6, two or more 3. 15% of the Trust Score
Complaint handling Of complaints the casino was found at fault for or has not answered, the share it resolved. 10% of the Trust Score

Worked through for Gamdom: 9.2 × 0.25 + 8.8 × 0.20 + 4.5 × 0.15 + 10.0 × 0.15 + 10.0 × 0.15 + 8.6 × 0.10 = 8.6. Every review shows the same sum for its own casino, component by component, with each figure linked to where it was read.

The sources

Where every figure comes from.

casinoguru Casino.guru

slotcatalog SlotCatalog

Slot specification database.

pragmatic Pragmatic Play

The studio's own publication.

bchelp BC.GAME Help Center

A secondary source is used only where no primary one publishes the figure, and the page says so. 6 games and 5 casinos are read this way today.

The scale

What a Trust Score means.

9.0 AND ABOVE Exceptional

Strong on every component: a clean audit, content players, fair terms, complaints resolved.

7.5 TO 8.9 Strong

Sound, with something worth knowing before you deposit.

6.0 TO 7.4 Fair

Workable, but the record shows friction. Know what you are accepting.

BELOW 6.0 Caution

The record shows something that costs players money or time.

Independence

Some links pay us. None of them buy anything.

Velven earns a commission when a reader signs up through some of our links. That is how the publication is funded, and we would rather say it plainly than bury it in a footer.

What matters is what commission cannot touch — and the answer is the entire ranking. Commercial terms are not an input to the Trust Score. They are not in the formula the score is computed from, so there is nothing for them to influence.

What a casino cannot buy

  • A position in the index
  • A band, a score, or a kinder verdict
  • Removal of a player report
  • A preview of a review before it publishes
  • A right of reply before a score goes live

What always happens

  • Corrections are published with their date and reason
  • Scores that fall are published exactly like scores that rise
  • Every figure names its source
The evidence

Every rule here is applied, not asserted.
